Hi Jim,
I'm Don; I met you on the beach with my family in April at Inverloch (during the 'summer' we did not have; amazing weather still!)
It's good to see a home done phpBB board. This is what I want to learn about so subject groups in teaching can set these up, instead of majordomo and listserv email systems
Can you control in the set up whether people have to register, before they can leave messages? as I think in the other ones I've seen, that is necessary.
Nice to see it

Sorry, Don, I have been a bit slack in checkking the board for new messages.
It doesn get much use as you can see, but I thought I had set it up to notify me by email when a new message arrives.
I may have to check my settings.
To answer your question, you can have a mix of public forums and private forums.
The public forums are visible to anyone who poiints the browser to the URL
The Administrator can designate a different person as moderator for each forum, and can set the properties for each forum
Some of the properties that can be set are -
Enable/Disable smilies
Enable/Disable HTML code
Enable/Disable BBCode
Enable/Disable posts from unregistered users
.
The private forums are not visible until a moderator registers a particular user as a member of that forum. (I have one forum on this board that is private, and thus not visible to users not registered for that forum. |
